Description:

Adlina 5mg Tablet is a medication categorized as a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor, commonly prescribed for managing type 2 diabetes. It is employed in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise regime, as it alone is insufficient for effectively controlling diabetes.

Its mechanism of action involves stimulating increased insulin secretion and reducing sugar production within the body. However, if you have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis (elevated blood ketone levels), or an allergy to this medication or its components, its use is not recommended. Prior to usage, consultation with a doctor is advised if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Consultation with a healthcare professional is also essential if you have a history of pancreatitis or angioedema, or if you are concurrently taking other medications, supplements, or herbal preparations. Adlina 5mg Tablet is available as 5mg tablets for oral consumption. Adhering to a prescribed routine, one tablet should be taken regularly.

Please note that this information is based on the medicine's active ingredient. Effects and uses may differ among individuals. It is prudent to consult a Diabetologist before commencing usage.

How does Adlina 5mg Tablet work?

Adlina 5mg Tablet boosts insulin production and decreases the production of glucagon, a substance that prompts the liver to produce more sugar. This combined action effectively regulates blood sugar levels.

  • Hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose levels)
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Nasopharyngitis (infection of the nose and throat with a common cold)
  • Headache
Quick Suggestions:
  • Linagliptin should be taken at the same time every day since this helps you remember to take it.
  • It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremors, and anxiety.
  • Be careful while driving or operating machinery until you know how Linagliptin affects you.
  • Inform your doctor if you notice joint pains or develop symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea and/or vomiting.
Indication

Adlina 5mg Tablet is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose levels.

Pharmacology

Linagliptin improves glycemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It functions as a DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor, preventing the degradation of incretin hormones like GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). This leads to increased levels of active incretin hormones, stimulating insulin release from pancreatic beta (β) cells in response to glucose levels and decreasing the release of glucagon from pancreatic alpha (α) cells in the bloodstream.

Dosage & Administration of Adlina 5mg Tablet

Take Adlina 5mg Tablet once daily. If taken with metformin, maintain the metformin dosage while administering linagliptin concurrently. When combined with sulfonylurea, consider a lower dose of sulphonylurea to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. No dosage adjustment is needed for patients with renal impairment. Linagliptin can be taken with or without food at any time of the day. TAdlina 5mg Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age).

Guidelines for using Adlina 5mg Tablet:

  • Consume the tablet in the prescribed dose and duration as instructed by your doctor.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not cut, break, or chew it.
  • It can be taken with or without food.
  • Take it at a consistent time for the best results.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
  • In case of an overdose, inform your doctor or seek medical attention.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If the next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to compensate for a missed one; never take two doses in one day.
